Nalu Diner
Absolutely one of my favorite Prenzlauerberg places to go to for an indulging breakfast. One thing I find important about eating out for breakfast is that the place serves food that is not too easy prepare at home. A typical Berlin breakfast is usually a basket full of bread served together with a plate of toppings. Nalu Diner serves nothing like that.
Here, I got to know the American diner cuisine, like crispy Hashbrowns. Their poached eggs are perfect. The Mc Bluffin and the Jumbo Breakfast Sandwich, both made with fresh bread, baked by the nearby “Bäckerei”are both really good. If you like American pancakes, Nalu Diner is the place to go. They serve delicious buttermilk pancakes, with or without blueberries.
Service is very friendly, something that is not too common in Berlin. As soon as you sit down at your table, you will get a glass of water. If you order coffee, your mug will be refilled as often as you’d like, just like your glass of water. I’ve visited this diner a number of times, once they forgot our order completely. Therefore, I can’t say that the service is perfect.
The interior is not too special, it’s clean, with some fun accents like prints on the tables of, for example, US-maps, US-presidents and US-bird species.
If you are not scared of a couple extra calories, go to Nalu Diner and enjoy all their good American stuff. If you go there during weekends, please take into account that it can be very crowded around noon.
